Lack of humidification is responsible for industrial production
damage which runs into millions annually: you can neither feel nor
see humidity, which is precisely why it is frequently underestimated
as a factor in production. From microelectronics to textiles, there
are many branches of industry in which lack of humidity or an
inefficient humidification system have a negative impact on process
and product quality. Inadequate humidity jeopardizes quality and
productivity wherever hygroscopic materials (those attracting water)
are produced or processed. Restricted machine running times,
production downtime and high costs are frequently the negative
outcomes of lack of humidity in the production process.
Supplementary humidification of office and administration buildings
is gaining increasing importance in modern workplace design. Optimum
humidification has an effect on the subjective perception of
wellbeing and is simultaneously a fixed value in occupational
medicine. If relative humidity drops below values of 40 %, this
leads to the mucous membranes of the eyes and upper respiratory
tract drying out. Bacteria in the air are able to penetrate
dehydrated mucous membranes more easily, triggering symptoms of
infection and colds. Many occupational medicine practitioners
accordingly recommend supplementary humidification to achieve a
healthy and pleasant atmosphere in these areas.
However, humidification is frequently only combined with
installations in air-conditioning systems. Its image has frequently
been tarnished by hygiene problems, servicing complexity and poor
performance. The "Optimized humidification" certificate awarded to
DRAABE for the first time proves that modern direct-room
humidification is more than just an often better alternative to
conventional humidification. DRAABE is the first supplier of
humidification systems to be awarded this certificate. In addition
to reliable function and hygienic operation of the humidification
system, the new certificate also guarantees a long-term maintenance
and service concept. A core component of certification is a
long-term microbiological examination of the water conditioned for
humidification: in a six-month continuous test of the DRAABE PUR
system conducted by the Fresenius hygiene institute, DRAABE provided
evidence of a significant reduction in total germ count compared to
conventional humidification systems.
For the first time, the new "Optimized humidification" certificate
creates a comprehensive standard for humidification reaching far
beyond the requirements of hygiene control systems used in
humidification to date (e.g. in accordance with HACCP principles)
and sets new standards in health protection and reliable technology.
